Elected with a majority of nearly nine thousand votes ahead of her nearest rivals, Conservative Mims Davies said she was "wxtremely grateful to be elected to serve as the Member of Parliament for East Grinstead, Uckfield & the villages constituency", when elected on Thursday night after a long counting session.
Mims admitted that "this was an extremely difficult set of results for us overnight", but pledged to "work tirelessly for the two great towns of East Grinstead and Uckfield, as well as all the wonderful villages,
"I’m humbled and honoured to serve," she told the assembled audience at The Triangle leisure centre in Burgess Hill.
"No matter whether you voted for me, or one of our other candidates, I am here to represent you and our wonderful community," she said.
The result of the poll was:

Benedict Dempsey (LD) - 10,839 votes
Christina Nanna Mary Coleman (Gn) - 5,277
