Lifelong East Grinstead resident Edward Godwin will fight the Town Council by-election for the Conservatives in Ashplats North ward on Thursday 2nd May, 2024.
Polling stations will be open from 7am to 10pm; don't forget your photo ID. If you have a postal vote. and haven't sent it back, you may take it to a polling station on 2nd May.
The election of the Sussex Police & Crime Commissioner takes place on the same day.
Edward says:
If elected, my immediate priority will be to establish closer working relationships with all town, district and county council councillors on behalf of both the residents in Ashplats North and as a collective voice for East Grinstead to deliver on the priorities identified for our town namely;
• Our Environment – be part of the continuing work between Town Councillors and West Sussex County Councillors to realise the ambition to create a cycle/walkway along St. Margaret's Loop. This will be a huge asset and a particular benefit to residents of Ashplats North due to its proximity to the ward.
• Our Economy – be part of reviewing the prospect and benefits of town centre pedestrianisation to local businesses and the community working with our district and county councillors. I am also supportive of our Mid Sussex District Councillors fighting on behalf of businesses and local residents in relation to the recent increase in parking charges that sees East Grinstead pay disproportionately more than anywhere else in Mid Sussex.
• Our Roads – I will work in collaboration with our county councillors and the work they do to improve our roads. I am already very pleased to see that recent improvements in Ashplats North have included resurfacing in both Holtye Road and Greenstede Avenue.
• Our Young People – as a young person myself, I am passionate about support for young people and will work collaboratively with all parties involved in youth engagement to enhance the current offer for the youth in East Grinstead.
Edward and his campaign team will be visible across the ward during the next few weeks and he hopes to speak with as many residents as possible. Alternatively, if you wish to contact Ed directly please email: [email protected] or you can leave a message with his campaign team on 01825 36 33 43.
