This week, Mims Davies MP met Cllr Ann Newton, the leader of the Conservatives on Wealden District Council, to talk about the chaos which is the Green/Lib Dem draft Local Plan.
"Local plans are vital to protect and grow areas in a unsustainable way. Alas, the Wealden plan from the rainbow coalition of Lib Dems and Greens, sounds like an absolute mess", explains Mims. "Everyone I have met recently in my series of village meetings feels the same on this vital matter. We, Conservatives, will be working together to get local views heard.
WEALDEN CHAOS
The Wealden Conservatives walked out of the latest meeting where they where very uncomfortable with the process and the advice.
Conservative councillors there were disappointed they could not not get an answer on how this process is working for local people and that their voices are being heard.
LEWES MESS
Meanwhile THIS from an Alliance-led Lewes DC (Greens/Labour) affects Mid Sussex: we have taken a huge amount of housing with a solid local plan historically in place, led by the previous Conservative administration at Oaklands, to protect this type of sprawling. The Green/Lab coalition running Lewes District make it very clear that Burgess Hill and Haywards Heath borders are again where they will be aiming for.
"Mid Sussex and the infrastructure (or lack of) will be impacted by this housing clearly going to dropped on our border by Lewes District Council", adds Mims. "Plus in their consultation, a very substantial sites in Hamsey is identified: a huge greenfield development on the edge of South Downs National Park. I know residents in the small village are aghast about.
"We do need housing but in the right places with local support - hence the focus on density and brownfield again from Secretary of State, Michael Gove," says Mims.
