Residents in Nutley and environs turned out despite the cold weather and gave anything but a frosty reception to their Member of Parliament and county councillor.
Mims Davies MP and Cllr Roy Galley were quizzed on a wide range of topics on the day that East Sussex County Council debated the Labour government's plans for reorganisation of local authorities in England.
Other matters were dominated by planning issues as well as roads and mobile telephone connectivity as well as the treasure that is nearby Ashdown Forest during the event at the village hall.
"It was wonderful to meet residents, hear their concerns and find out the issues that really matter to them", said Cllr Roy Galley who earlier in the day had chaired the ESCC debate at County Hall.
The matters raised will be taken away by both Mims and Roy to be investigated on behalf of residents. "Listening to local views is such a vital part of being an MP", said Mims who is planning to continue her drop-in sessions across the constituency's towns and villages.
Among the items discussed was the state of the roads, with residents encouraged to report potholes and drainage issues themselves on the ESCC website, as well as writing to Roy and to Mims.
